Professionals in Europe’s asset management industry are reassessing the appeal of Japanese equities and the scope for reform. Theo Wild, who covers Japanese equities at a London-based independent asset manager, pointed to inefficiencies in the Japanese market and the potential for reform.

Wild took up his current position in 2025 and is relatively young among Japan equity managers based in the U.K. He was also involved in Japanese equity analysis in his previous role and believes that inefficiencies remain, leaving substantial scope for reform.
Although part of the article is limited to members, it conveys European investors’ interest in the Japanese market and views on the potential for improvement in Japanese equities.
