Lenovo appointed Amar Babu as Motorola's new global president, effective 1 January 2027. He will also serve as general manager of MBG.
Lenovo announced on 4 November that it would appoint Amar Babu as Motorola's new global president. The appointment will take effect on 1 January 2027, and he will also serve concurrently as general manager of the Mobile Business Group.
Babu will oversee Motorola's consumer and enterprise businesses worldwide and plans to strengthen its integrated premium product portfolio and expand its intelligent-device ecosystem. He will work to increase market share in key markets including the United States, India and Japan.
In his new role, he will report to Luca Rossi, president of Lenovo's IDG, and will also serve as president of the Asia Pacific region for the time being. Rossi will serve as acting global president through the end of 2026.
The appointment concerns oversight of Motorola's global business and is not a change in the president of the Japanese subsidiary. Additional information was also provided as an editorial note.
