Hokko Chemical Industry announced the launch of a shareholder benefit program, with 30 November 2026 set as the initial record date. The continuous-holding requirements and amount categories were specified, and the continuous-holding requirement also applies to the initial application.
Hokko Chemical Industry decided at its board meeting on 27 October 2026 to introduce a shareholder benefit program and announced 30 November 2026 as the initial record date. The announcement and board resolution were made on the same day, and the stated background to the introduction of the program was an intention to encourage shareholders to hold the shares over the medium to long term. The company also announced its earnings outlook related to a wastewater discharge on the same day. The source of the announcement materials is the company’s “Notice Concerning the Introduction of a Shareholder Benefit Program.”
The benefits require shareholders to hold 100 shares or more as recorded on the shareholder register dated 30 November each year. The same shareholder number must show a continuous holding of 100 shares or more on the registers dated 31 May and 30 November. Continuous holding is determined by at least 3 consecutive records for 1 year or more and at least 5 for 2 years or more. This continuous-holding requirement also applies to the initial application.
The benefit amount is determined by the number of shares held on the record date and the continuous-holding history. For 100–299 shares, continuous holding for 1 year or more but less than 2 years qualifies for a QUO card worth ¥500, while 2 years or more qualifies for ¥1,000. The benefit will be enclosed with the notice of convocation for the shareholders’ meeting, which will be mailed in early February, rather than arriving on 30 November. It is also explicitly stated that simply buying the shares today does not qualify for the initial application.
