JGC Group's HR event, "JGC People Day," reached its 3rd edition, with a programme placing employee-led initiatives front and centre. Approximately 700 people participated, combining the in-person event at the Yokohama headquarters with remote participants from around the world. "Civil Engineering Day" was also reported to have won the grand prize as the best example.
On 9 September 2026, JGC Group's HR event "JGC People Day" (hereinafter, "People Day") was held at JGC Holdings Corporation's headquarters building, opening with a speech by Representative Director, Chairman and CEO Sato Masayuki (佐藤 雅之). People Day, which had previously been held once a year, reached its 3rd edition, with approximately 220 people attending in person and approximately 460 participating remotely, including from overseas offices.
The morning session continued with speeches by Sato and Hanada Takuya (花田 琢也), Senior Executive Officer and CHRO, among others, and concluded with the JGC HR AWARD 2026, which recognises employees' voluntary initiatives. In the afternoon, breakout-style sessions were held at multiple venues. Hanada's CHRO session took the form of a panel discussion that included HR staff, with Manager Otsuka Kentaro (大塚 健太郎) and others with frontline experience taking the stage to explain important HR themes and initiatives at JGC Group.
The grand prize went to the internal event "Civil Engineering Day," held in August 2026, which attracted more than 160 participants from around the world. The event was recognised for its use of original characters and other ways of building excitement. Hanada said that JGC Group is developing initiatives in locations around the world and encouraged HR staff to gather information while also keeping an eye on examples from overseas.
