On 24 September 2026, custom-curtain company ジアス held a class at Omiya Science and Technology High School in Saitama City, Saitama. With “Moving Beyond Greige” as its theme, the class used actual curtain fabrics and wallpaper in group work to create material boards, providing practical problem-solving exercises and teaching ways of thinking that can be applied in the workplace.
As part of its industry-academia partnership with a local educational institution, ジアス held a class on spatial design. The class introduced “the power of design to play with colours and patterns” and the enjoyment of creating spaces, while offering students an opportunity to learn the importance of curiosity and understanding others through practical, problem-solving group work.
During the class, students were presented with an interior design proposal addressing the challenges of greige, and took part in group work to create material boards using cut samples of wallpaper and curtain fabrics. Within the time limit, each group developed its own interior concept and went on to present it.
In the feedback session, the students were introduced to “three capabilities” needed to succeed in the workplace: the ability to ask questions, understand others and put ideas into action, and meet deadlines. Students who took part said it was “the most fun they had ever had,” while teachers gave the class high marks.
Going forward, ジアス plans to deepen its partnerships with educational institutions, starting in its local community, and promote CSR activities focused on developing sensibilities through interior design and nurturing the next generation of talent.
