Bandai announced that it will hold the Tamagotchi 30th-anniversary event “祝3000 しゅ〜ねん!?超たまごっち祭 in シブハラ” in the Harajuku and Shibuya area this November and held a media unveiling event. Yuriyan Retriever made an emergency trip to Japan to appear on stage at the venue, where a variety of exhibits and hands-on areas were prepared.
The event will run from 7 November to 6 December, with MAZE on the fourth floor of Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado” serving as the main venue. Activities will include a stamp rally around the area, a special café and sales of limited-edition products. The event will also include an exhibition for the large-scale “Great Excavation Project,” which was launched after the discovery of a mysterious stone monument.
The latest series’ new device, “Tamagotchi Paradise - Neon Planets,” equipped with a zoom dial, is scheduled to launch on 21 November at a tax-inclusive price of ¥6,380. In addition, the large device “Tamagotchi Paradise - My Lab Tamagotchi,” which can communicate with that device for gameplay, will be commercialised as “Dekatamagotchi” for the first time in 16 years and will launch on 7 November. Advance hands-on sessions will be held at MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 from 6 to 30 November, on weekends and public holidays only.
Since its launch in 1996, Tamagotchi has shipped more than 100 million units worldwide. A 30th-anniversary event using large screens is also scheduled for 22 November in New York’s Times Square. Yuriyan will attend the venue as a special research fellow and share stories about the exhibits and her passion for Tamagotchi.
