Konoike Transport will introduce an automation platform combining ProPlus+ and Steward for the new lease accounting standard for lease contracts across approximately 30 group companies. The platform will connect processes ranging from contract digitization to lease classification and management in preparation for application of the new standard.
Konoike Transport will introduce an end-to-end operating platform combining First Accounting's Steward AI platform with ProPlus+ for lease contracts across approximately 30 group companies. It will automate processes from collecting contracts through AI-based lease classification and lease management to accounting treatment, in preparation for application of the new lease accounting standard. Many contracts are stored on paper or as PDFs, making digitization and centralized management a challenge.
The new standard will be mandatory for fiscal years beginning on or after 1 April 2027, requiring all leases, including operating leases, to be recognized on the balance sheet as assets and liabilities. Proship entered into a capital and business alliance with First Accounting in February 2026 and has been promoting the automation of lease identification using AI. PrPlus+ has been adopted by more than 1,000 companies, with adoption also expanding among large companies.
As part of Konoike Transport's implementation, Steward's AI-OCR will batch-digitize contracts, while API connectivity with CloudSign will automatically consolidate new contracts. The system will display the basis for the AI's determination of whether a contract qualifies as a lease together with the original text, and the data will be transferred to ProPlus+ to automate accounting treatment and tax adjustments for real estate leases. This will reduce reliance on individual judgment and strengthen governance and operational standardization across the group.
