Macnica, a semiconductor trading company, announced on 16 October that it had agreed to acquire a 50.1% stake in CyberSec IT Consulting, a UAE-based company engaged in the cybersecurity business, and make it a subsidiary. The acquisition price has not been disclosed, and the transfer is scheduled for late November.
Macnica positions its cybersecurity-related business as its second major business pillar after semiconductor wholesaling, and intends to use the acquisition as a foothold for expanding its business in the Middle East and Africa.
The company also acquired a cybersecurity-related company operating in the Middle East in 2023, and plans to expand its business through local managed services and other operations.
Macnica has set a target of achieving sales of ¥230 billion by fiscal 2027 and is expected to promote the cybersecurity business as a growth pillar.
