Cosmo Energy Holdings and Iwatani Corporation announced their final investment decision on a hydrogen business at Chiba Refinery. They will develop a detailed plan centered on restoring the existing hydrogen production unit and building a new liquefied hydrogen plant.
Cosmo Energy Holdings and Iwatani Corporation announced that they had made the final investment decision on a hydrogen business at Cosmo Oil's Chiba Refinery in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, and would implement the capital and business alliance concluded in April 2024 through specific capital investment.
The project includes restoring the idled hydrogen production unit and using the hydrogen produced in the oil refining process, as well as plans to supply part of it to the Iwatani Corporation Group.
The new liquefied hydrogen plant is intended to ensure a stable supply of hydrogen and quality control at the refinery, thereby strengthening the overall hydrogen value chain.
The two companies are said to be working through this collaboration to establish a stable hydrogen supply system and advance capital investment aimed at expanding their hydrogen businesses.
