Opto Electronics, IDEC and F&LC were active at the midday close. Opto Electronics was reportedly being assessed for its return to quarterly profitability, IDEC was expected to exceed its earnings outlook, and F&LC was reported to have solid sales in its monthly data.
Opto Electronics announced its results for the cumulative third quarter. Sales were ¥4.843 billion, down 0.8% year on year, while the operating loss was ¥128 million and the net loss was ¥259 million. The results were affected by postponements of deliveries to major overseas customers, the recognition of non-operating expenses and the reversal of a special gain recorded in the same period of the previous year. Nevertheless, both operating profit and net profit turned positive on a quarterly basis.
IDEC attracted strong interest, including by renewing its year-to-date high. The company is a leading specialist in control equipment and is expanding business opportunities in fields such as robotics. After the close of trading the previous Friday, it revised its earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, raising sales from the previous ¥75.5 billion to ¥85.0 billion and operating profit from ¥7.2 billion to ¥9.4 billion. Demand related to semiconductors, robots and machine tools was strong, particularly in Japan and China, and the upward revision to its earnings outlook was reported as a buying factor.
FOOD & LIFE COMPANIES announced its monthly data for September. Domestic Sushiro same-store sales rose 6.3% year on year, exceeding the previous year's results for 3 years and 42 consecutive months. Despite negative factors including prolonged rain, an approaching typhoon and the reaction to a major collaboration in the previous year, sales remained solid as product initiatives and value propositions proved effective.
