The new U12 Value Plan and U18 Value Plan began on 1 December 2025, with fees and data allowances set for ages 5–12 and 5–18, respectively. As of June 2026, users who meet the conditions can still enroll, and migration from the U16 Value Plan is automatic.
The U12 Value Plan and U18 Value Plan, au's new student-discount-equivalent plans, began on 1 December 2025. The former student discount has been made permanent under a new name, with enrollment available at any time for users who meet the age requirements.
The U12 Value Plan is for ages 5–12 and costs ¥550 per month after discounts, with outdoor speeds limited to a maximum of 300kbps. Its features include a design intended to support children's first smartphone use safely, as well as Kodomamo and au Kids Lab.
The U18 Value Plan is for ages 5–18 and uses a two-tier monthly fee of ¥1,078–¥2,728 after discounts, with data usage of up to 20GB. Enrollment continues through the month in which the user turns 23. Speed restrictions and contract cancellation charges are also explained.
The U18 Gigabyte Increase Campaign is described as having ended applications on 31 May 2026. After graduation, users are expected either to continue with 20GB per month at ¥2,728 after turning 23 or to switch to another carrier or brand.
au's student discount is characterized by its provision of long-term discounts even after the name change. U18 Value Plan users can combine it with au family discounts and Smart Value, and it can also be combined with device discounts.
