室町ケミカル revised its interim earnings forecast upward, with sales and ordinary profit exceeding expectations against the backdrop of expanding demand for pharmaceutical active ingredients and semiconductor-related products. Ordinary profit is expected to significantly exceed the year-earlier level.
室町ケミカル revised its interim earnings forecast upward. Under the new forecast, sales are expected to be ¥3.5 billion, operating profit ¥250 million, ordinary profit ¥240 million and interim net income ¥160 million, all revised upward from the previous forecasts. In the same period a year earlier, sales were ¥3.681 billion, operating profit ¥349 million, ordinary profit ¥336 million and interim net income ¥224 million.
The main factors were stronger-than-expected sales of imported active pharmaceutical ingredients, centered on ingredients for antiepileptic and anti-herpesvirus drugs, and earlier-than-expected sales of ion-exchange resins in the chemicals business. Smooth sales of high-value-added products, against the backdrop of a recovery in the semiconductor-related market, also contributed.
However, the impact includes earlier sales recognition and temporary demand, and the full-year earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending May 2027 remains unchanged from the previous forecast.
