Kiteworks announced the acquisition of Bonfy.AI, with the transaction price undisclosed. The acquired technology enables classification and policy enforcement as data moves and is expected to be integrated into the Data Control Plane.
Kiteworks announced on 8 September 2026 that it had acquired AI data security company Bonfy.AI. The acquisition took place in San Mateo, California, and Kiteworks said it plans to integrate Bonfy.AI’s real-time classification and policy enforcement technology into its Data Control Plane. For the time being, Bonfy.AI’s technology is expected to continue being offered as a standalone solution after the integration.
The transaction terms, including the purchase price, payment terms and enterprise value, have not been officially disclosed. External reports include estimates, but the amounts have not been confirmed by the parties, and the transaction’s economic scale, including the split between cash and stock and any performance-based terms, cannot be determined.
The objective of acquiring Bonfy.AI is to obtain capabilities that classify data and enforce policies not only while data is at rest, but also as it moves through email, SaaS, APIs and AI agents. The companies emphasized that adding in-transit decision-making enables contextual assessment immediately before transmission.
Kiteworks said it plans to integrate the acquired technology into its Data Control Plane, including the Data Policy Engine and Compliant AI, rather than maintain it indefinitely as a parallel product. The timing of the integrated offering, its impact on existing contracts and the availability of connectors have not been disclosed, and further information is awaited.
