Doosan announced total capital investment of KRW 970 billion in South Korea and overseas to strengthen production of high-performance CCL for AI data centers. It will invest KRW 420 billion in South Korea and KRW 550 billion in China in phases, with operations scheduled to begin sequentially from the second half of 2028.
Doosan announced total capital investment of KRW 970 billion in South Korea and overseas to significantly expand its production capacity for copper-clad laminate (CCL) used in AI data centers. In South Korea, it will expand production lines for optical-module CCL, while in China it will build a new plant for CCL used in AI accelerators and network switches. The investment will be carried out in phases through 2028, with operations scheduled to begin sequentially from the second half of 2028.
Domestic and overseas sites will be differentiated according to product characteristics. The South Korean lines will prioritize quality control and protection of core technologies, while the overseas operations will be structured to enhance customer responsiveness. In particular, Doosan plans to strengthen its supply system in China, where PCB demand is changing rapidly, and adapt it to the characteristics of the local market.
The backdrop is growth in the high-performance PCB market driven by the expansion of AI data centers. As AI accelerators and networking equipment process data at higher speeds, connection PCBs are becoming faster and more highly integrated, driving increased demand for CCL. Doosan will secure supply capacity by drawing on its technological capabilities in AI-ready CCL and optical-module CCL.
Doosan’s electronics business has also performed steadily, recording its first annual sales above KRW 1 trillion in 2024 and approximately KRW 1.9 trillion in 2025. The company is pursuing further capacity expansion to accommodate plans to build local plants and larger orders from global customers.
