China's mid-tier automaker 賽力斯集団 and leading vehicle battery maker 宁德时代新能源科技 (CATL) have signed an agreement to deepen their long-term strategic partnership in Chongqing. The two companies will deepen cooperation in battery safety, industry-chain coordination and the development of a global ecosystem, while expanding the scope and substance of their cooperation.
The cooperation includes expanding production capacity through a factory-within-a-factory model, under which CATL will establish production lines inside 賽力斯集団's factories, developing a charging infrastructure ecosystem centered on ultra-fast charging, and accelerating global expansion.
The premium NEV brand AITO, jointly developed by 賽力斯集団 and Huawei, has used CATL batteries in all models since its launch, with cumulative deliveries exceeding 1.2 million units. It will continue to use CATL batteries.
CATL will continue to expand its investment in Chongqing and support the city's efforts to develop a premium intelligent connected vehicle industry cluster with a production value of approximately RMB1 trillion. The deepening partnership will expand coordination across production capacity, charging infrastructure and global expansion.
The deepening of strategic partnerships between vehicle battery makers and automakers is expected to strengthen supply chain coordination and support the development of an ecosystem for the new energy vehicle industry.
