SKY Perfect JSAT has outlined plans to increase revenue from its satellite-based video infrastructure business from ¥7.2 billion in FY2025 to ¥10 billion or more in FY2030. It plans to diversify the business, with facility leasing as a central pillar.
The prospective lessees are video streaming providers, and the company will use the SKY Perfect Tokyo Media Center in Koto Ward, Tokyo. The six-story facility, with one basement level, is equipped with studios, video editing equipment and emergency generators.
One specific operating model under consideration involves receiving overseas sports footage via satellite and providing it to domestic streaming providers. The company has previously leased facilities to DAZN for the summer World Cup tournament hosted by the three North American countries, and is also considering using the facilities as backup sites during disasters.
The number of SKY PerfecTV! contracts has declined from a peak of more than 40 companies, and the company is pursuing a policy of diversifying its revenue base through such businesses as the sale of data from its space business.
