德麦食品 will invest NT$1.6 billion in its largest single investment since its founding to build a new plant and logistics center. Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027, with full-scale operations scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2028. Warehouse capacity will be expanded to four times its current level.
德麦食品, a major producer of confectionery and bakery ingredients, has announced plans to build a new plant and logistics center, with a total investment of NT$1.6 billion (approximately ¥8 billion). Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027, with operations scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2028.
The new plant will house production lines for dairy processing and semi-finished bakery products, while warehouse capacity will be expanded fourfold, from the equivalent of 1,000 pallets to 4,000 pallets. The facility will be built on a site of approximately 2,025 square meters, with a total floor area of 13,258 square meters, and will comprise 9 above-ground floors and 2 basement floors.
Through detailed planning of logistics and warehouse layouts, the company aims to shorten the time required to transport, receive and dispatch raw materials, reduce transportation and warehouse management costs, and strengthen its supply chain.
The investment in the new plant is intended to support business development over the next 5 to 10 years. The company has indicated that it will respond to changes in the macro environment, including demographic trends and labor shortages, by expanding production of high-value-added products and meeting demand in domestic and overseas markets.
As part of its environmental initiatives, the company plans to install a solar power generation system on the roof of the new plant. It aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote ESG sustainability in line with renewable energy policies.
Market participants expect the expansion of warehouse capacity and strengthening of production capabilities to enhance the company’s competitiveness amid the industry’s continuing labor shortage. Many believe that operations at the new plant will become a key pillar of business growth.
The new plant is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in the second quarter of 2028 and is expected to become an important base supporting 德麦’s long-term growth strategy.
