Straker Japan spoke at the Japan Investor Relations Association and introduced the shift from general-purpose AI to specialized models, along with challenges in English disclosure and ways to improve costs. It also presented initiatives including video dubbing and information on upcoming webinars.
Mimori Akie (三森 暁江), Senior Vice President of Straker Japan, spoke at the session held as part of the 247th IR Circle meeting of the Japan Investor Relations Association. She expressed the view that the use of generative AI is evolving from general-purpose models to specialized models optimized for each industry and company, and explained new possibilities for corporate communications, English disclosure and video content.
The importance of specialized models was discussed, with the ability of small, purpose-built models to identify the provenance of their training data described as essential. In English disclosure, the need to convey context, including the company’s growth story and management’s thinking, rather than relying solely on literal translation, was emphasized. Straker pointed to a survey of IR personnel at Japanese companies showing that around 70% of companies would incur additional annual costs of approximately ¥1 million to ¥5 million as a result of mandatory simultaneous English disclosure.
The importance of “AI discoverability” and “context” was also explained, with companies said to need to adapt how they communicate so that their information can be correctly found and understood by AI. SwiftBridge AI was introduced as offering delivery of English versions within 24 hours and high-quality output, and its ISO 27001 security framework was also discussed.
After the event, guidance was provided on accessing online streams for Japan Investor Relations Association members and obtaining presentation materials, along with plans for future webinars. The future of multilingual IR and specific support services were introduced. Solutions for multilingual video distribution, including Straker AI Dubbing, were also presented, and expectations were expressed for continued support of global communications through the provision of language solutions.
