“Kinkakuji,” an assembled paper lantern picture held by the Shochiku Otani Library, will be specially exhibited inside Kabukiza Theatre. It will be on display in the exhibition showcase on the stage-right side of the first-floor lobby from 3 to 25 June 2026, during the performance period.
The exhibition features the completed form of an assembled paper lantern picture based on “Kinkakuji,” the fourth act of the Kabukiza Theatre production “Gion sairei shinko ki.” Visitors can view the completed work at close range. The Shochiku Otani Library holds more than 160 assembled paper lantern pictures, some of which are also available through its official digital archive.
The Shochiku Otani Library also sells original goods to make its materials more familiar to visitors. Items including the “Kinkakuji: Balloon-Riding Spencer” paperback book cover can be purchased at the souvenir shop at Kabukiza Theatre. They can serve as mementos of a visit to the library or a performance.
