Mitsubishi Heavy Industries approved a share buyback and raised its full-year forecast, but its share price fell 4.6% to a new 52-week low. The purchase period is from 9 November 2026 to 8 November 2027, with a maximum of 120 million shares and a total value of ¥300 billion.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries closed at ¥2,912.50, down 4.57% from the previous day. The broader market decline also had an impact, and the company’s shares hit a new 52-week low as both the Nikkei 225 and TOPIX fell. The board approved a share buyback with a maximum of approximately 3.6% of issued shares excluding treasury shares.
At the same time, the company raised its earnings targets for the fiscal year ending March 2027. Revenue is projected at ¥6.0 trillion, business profit at ¥600 billion and net income attributable to owners of the parent at ¥440 billion, while the orders-received target was raised to ¥8.0 trillion. The free cash flow target was raised to ¥800 billion and the ROE target to 14%.
First-half results were on a recovery trend, led by Energy Systems. By segment, Energy Systems revenue increased 29% to ¥1.12 trillion and business profit expanded to ¥145.1 billion, while GTCC orders received reached ¥1.57 trillion in the first half. Aerospace, Defense & Space revenue increased to ¥633.4 billion and business profit to ¥76.3 billion, although orders received declined due to the reaction to the previous year’s level.
In light of domestic market trends, the strength of orders received and achievement of the new targets could affect the share price depending on the market’s reaction.
