Panasonic Holdings announced that it will skip CES next year, ending its 60-year consecutive run as an exhibitor. It said decisions on future participation will be made on a case-by-case basis from 2028 onward.
Panasonic Holdings has announced that it will skip CES in 2027. The advanced technology trade show, one of the world’s largest, is held annually in Las Vegas, United States. The company had exhibited for 60 consecutive years, but is reviewing its approach to exhibiting against a backdrop of increasingly diverse channels for disseminating information.
This summer, the company informed the organizer of its decision to discontinue exhibiting with an individual booth. It has announced a policy of diversifying its points of contact with stakeholders through digital media, proprietary events and other channels, rather than relying on direct communication through CES.
For future exhibitions, the company will decide on participation from 2028 onward on a case-by-case basis, and will consider whether to continue exhibiting at an appropriate time based on the results achieved at CES.
CES was a venue for Japanese consumer electronics manufacturers to showcase new products, but participation by major domestic companies has continued to decline in recent years. Panasonic Holdings’ decision can be seen as part of this trend.
