Kawasaki Heavy Industries and NVIDIA are jointly considering the “next-generation digital shipyard concept,” aimed at next-generation digital dock and shipbuilding berth operations. The article describes their policy of using digital technology through collaboration between the two companies.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries and NVIDIA are considering the “next-generation digital shipyard concept” to advance the digitalization of shipbuilding and ship operations. Through their joint initiative, they aim to digitally design and virtually verify docks and assembly lines, while automating and optimizing the entire plant.
On the technology side, platforms including NVIDIA's Omniverse and Isaac Sim may be used to integrate design data, run simulations in virtual environments and coordinate robots with automated systems. This is expected to provide a foundation for verification before deployment of physical equipment and for improving productivity.
