Advance applications to open accounts under Kodomo NISA (the tax-exempt investment scheme for small investments), scheduled to launch in 2027, began on 1 January. Under the NISA scheme, gains from the sale of stocks and investment trusts, among other income, are generally exempt from tax.
According to a survey conducted by Matsui Securities, around 40% of respondents said they would like to use it. The results are being treated as material for gauging the level of interest and willingness to adopt the scheme among the market participants covered by the survey.
The development has been reported as part of efforts to assess actual intentions to use Kodomo NISA while preparations for opening accounts advance ahead of its introduction.
