In the Tokyo stock market on the 1st, the Nikkei Average briefly rose more than ¥2,000, moving into the ¥68,000 range. Buying orders also spread in the Tokyo market, following gains in technology stocks in the U.S. market the previous day.
Buying increased particularly in AI- and semiconductor-related stocks. The yen also weakened against the dollar in the foreign-exchange market, with the dollar rising into the ¥158 range, providing a factor pushing export-related stocks higher.
The Nikkei Average also rose on 30 September, marking a sharp gain for the second consecutive day.
Meanwhile, U.S. long-term interest rates remain elevated and caution over the situation in the Middle East continues, prompting views that volatile trading will persist.
