The Sailor Pen Co.,Ltd. will launch the eighth Japanese-painting-inspired design, the Naginata Togi Ebonite Fountain Pen, Enryu, inspired by Unryu, in a worldwide limited edition of 450 units. The allocation is 225 units for Japan and 225 overseas, with the launch scheduled for 24 October.
The Naginata Togi Ebonite Fountain Pen, Enryu, is a substantial fountain pen combining an oversized 21-karat gold Naginata Togi nib with ebonite layered in 3 colors. Colored ebonite inspired by Japanese paintings is used for the body, which incorporates imagery from Unryu as the eighth edition in the series.
As a special feature, each pen is engraved with a serial number, making it a unique piece with no identical counterpart anywhere in the world. The body has the smooth, supple feel of ebonite, while the nib is designed for a smooth writing experience.
The design depicts a descending dragon summoning clouds and accompanied by flames. Black forms the base, with white Chirashi material representing clouds, gray ebonite representing haze, and yellowish-red ebonite representing flames as an accent color. The Naginata Togi nib has a large tipping point and a long blade shape, allowing broader writing when held at a shallow angle and finer writing when held upright.
The price is ¥275,000 before tax, and the launch date is Saturday, 24 October. The pen will be sold through retailers in Japan and overseas.
