日本郵船 has ordered 1 service operation vessel, or SOV, for offshore wind farms and aims to expand its business beyond Europe into the Asia-Pacific region. The new vessel has been ordered from Singapore-based PaxOcean Group, with completion scheduled for around 2029.
日本郵船 announced that it had ordered 1 service operation vessel, or SOV, to support the construction and maintenance of offshore wind power facilities. Using the new vessel, the company aims to expand its SOV business in Asia-Pacific as well as Europe.
The order was placed with Singapore-based shipbuilder PaxOcean Group, with completion scheduled for around 2029. The vessel will be approximately 89.6 meters long and 19.2 meters wide, with accommodation and storage space for up to 120 people.
The vessel will be equipped with a dynamic positioning system, or DPS, and a crane with an automatic motion-compensation function. It is designed to enable the safe transfer of personnel and supplies.
After completion, the company plans to deploy the vessel on offshore wind projects in Taiwan and elsewhere in Asia-Pacific, in cooperation with Taiwan-based offshore wind-related companies and others.
