Taihan Cable & Solution renamed the submarine cable-laying vessel it acquired in the first half of this year Taihan Connector. The new name is intended to maintain recognition in global markets, and the acquisition and delivery timings were also reported.
Taihan Cable & Solution was reported to have renamed the submarine cable-laying vessel it acquired from DOF Group Taihan Connector. The name change was made to reflect the company’s identity, while retaining “Connector” from its former name, Skandi Connector.
The vessel, designed by Damen of the Netherlands, is in the 10,000-ton class, measures approximately 138.4 meters in length, and was built in 2016. According to Taihan, it has worked on more than 26 projects and has laid approximately 1,300 kilometers of submarine cable, primarily in Europe.
Taihan Connector can carry up to 7,000 tons of submarine cable at a time. In addition to laying array and export cables for offshore wind farms, it can be deployed on long-distance interconnection and HVDC submarine cable projects.
The company purchased the vessel from DOF Group in May 2026, and it was delivered in July. On 2 November, the company announced that it had established a 2-vessel fleet of PALOS and Taihan Connector dedicated to offshore wind projects.
