Google’s Japan business announced that it would begin offering the “Simple Guide” AI feature within Gemini Live to support older adults. The voice-focused service assists with everyday tasks and document checking like a personal companion.
Google’s Japan business announced on 6 October that it would begin rolling out “Simple Guide” in Gemini Live. The feature provides real-time, voice-focused support, helping older adults complete tasks independently, from everyday smartphone operations to checking documents.
To use it, press and hold the button on a supported device to launch the feature. Gemini assesses the situation through live video or screen sharing, reads text on documents and remote controls aloud, and provides voice guidance for operating a smartphone. It also gives voice instructions when the camera is pointed in the wrong direction.
Simple Guide is available on devices running Android 9 or later, in supported regions and languages. Users must update the app and operating system to the latest versions and turn on the feature from the profile settings in the Gemini mobile app. The feature also supports integration with accessibility settings and Google TalkBack.
At the same time, Google released the “Gemini Guide to Supporting Caregiving Workplaces” for care workers. It compiles ways to improve operational efficiency, including creating records from notes and voice input, considering care approaches and developing recreation ideas.
