双日 announced the acquisition of all shares in SFIH-related companies centered on the UK's NESI and their conversion into consolidated subsidiaries. The company is building an integrated platform covering the European and US markets from raw-material procurement through the sale of finished products.
On 2 October 2026, 双日 announced that it would acquire all shares in SFIH, which owns companies including NESI, a UK-based seafood processor and distributor, and make it a consolidated subsidiary. This will establish a system under which the 双日 Group handles the procurement, processing and sale of seafood in the European and US markets.
NESI has a high share of sales to UK mass retailers, focusing on whitefish, wild salmon and sashimi-grade tuna. Its strengths include the ability to develop value-added products such as RTE and RTH, advanced processing technology, and MSC and ASC certifications. Its raw-material supply network, which uses SFIH Group procurement bases, is also an important asset.
Going forward, the SFIH Group and 双日 Group will work together on joint procurement of raw materials and accelerate the development of high-value-added products by combining expertise from Japan and Asia with NESI's processing technology. They aim to expand volumes handled through cross-selling across their sales networks. The UK market is estimated at approximately US$5.7 billion and is expected to grow.
