Emerging automotive brand EMTA announced that it will make the world premiere of its first model, a new EV compliant with Japan’s kei car standards, at Tokyo Auto Salon 2027. The vehicle will be unveiled at the 3-day event held at Makuhari Messe and is designed for everyday mobility in Japan, including daily shopping and school or family drop-offs.
The vehicle uses a completely new dedicated platform compliant with Japan’s kei car standards: a maximum overall length of 3,400 mm, width of 1,480 mm and height of 2,000 mm. Its key features include an e-axle integrating the motor and inverter, and an underfloor battery layout designed to preserve cabin space.
In addition to compatibility with the CHAdeMO fast-charging standard, the vehicle is scheduled to support V2H, which supplies power from the vehicle to a home, and V2L, which can power appliances away from home, as standard features. Use as an emergency power source during disasters is also envisaged, underscoring its practicality for the needs of the Japanese market.
EMTA disclosed plans to sequentially launch 4 new models in the Japanese market by 2029 and intends to use Autobacs’ nationwide network for sales and after-sales service. The sales price of the first model has not been disclosed, but the company is said to be targeting an accessible price range comparable to that of engine-powered vehicles.
