Chuo University and 奥村組 jointly hosted an industry-academia collaboration forum. Researchers, students and companies came together to explore the links between research results and challenges facing the construction industry, and to discuss new opportunities for co-creation.
On 9 September 2026, Chuo University and 奥村組 held the “Chuo University × 奥村組 Innovation Forum” at 奥村組’s Cross Innovation Center in Marunouchi, Tokyo. As part of the industry-academia collaboration between the university and the company, the forum sought to explore the links between research results that could lead to future technology development and commercialisation and challenges facing the construction industry. More than 80 people attended in person and online.
In the first session, lectures were given by Professor Tegai Taichi (手計 太一) and Associate Professor Miura Shino (三浦 詩乃) of Chuo University. The lectures introduced advanced research on water, disaster prevention, urban design and community development, followed by an active exchange of views with participants. 奥村組 presented its research initiatives aimed at creating new business areas, and discussions deepened on the potential for putting research results into practical use in society and applying them in the construction sector.
In the second session, Chuo University students showcased 12 research results through posters and models, and exchanged views with 奥村組 officers and employees through discussions on the potential application of the research results in the construction sector. By bringing together researchers, students and corporate representatives, the event created opportunities for new ideas, research themes, future joint research and technical collaboration.
Based on its founding principle, “實地應用ノ素ヲ養フ,” Chuo University will promote the practical application of research results in society through its Organization for the Promotion of Social Co-Creation. Going forward, the university will continue to share a vision with companies including 奥村組, aiming to resolve social issues and create a sustainable future through industry-academia collaboration.
