Dai Nippon Printing launched AN−IPPON, a new overseas brand combining intellectual property with traditional crafts from across Japan, and began sequentially selling 3 products inspired by Naruto characters in the U.S. in July.
Dai Nippon Printing established AN−IPPON, an overseas brand combining intellectual property from Japanese manga and anime with traditional crafts. As its first installment, the brand will launch 3 Naruto-inspired products, leveraging the series’ popularity overseas in the U.S. The brand aims to create a platform connecting intellectual property with traditional crafts.
The collaboration product lineup consists of 3 items: an anime scene rendered in Kutani ware from Ishikawa Prefecture, an item inspired by the akabeko folk craft of the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, and a design incorporating symbols of Yonezawa-ori textiles from Yamagata Prefecture. The products are intended to meet local demand and expand overseas sales channels.
Sales began primarily through 2 locations of the Tokyo Anime Center, an anime merchandise specialty store operated by DNP in the U.S., with plans to expand sales. A second installment is planned during fiscal 2026, while the company also envisions eventually expanding sales channels into Europe and Asia and launching the products in Japan.
Going forward, DNP will collaborate with traditional craft-producing regions in all 47 prefectures to create intellectual property collaboration products and capture overseas demand. By expanding intellectual property content and promoting merchandise production, the company aims to help expand overseas sales channels for traditional crafts.
