HOKTO is conducting the “#My Mushroom Wellness” project for employees and their families. Participants will consume 40g of mushrooms per day for 1 month, and the project will assess changes in short-chain fatty acid levels in the gut. HOKTO is holding a seminar in collaboration with Metagen and plans to present the results at the Japanese Society of Dietary Fiber conference in November.
As part of its efforts to promote employee health, HOKTO has launched the “#My Mushroom Wellness” project for 50 group employees. Participants will receive the company’s mushrooms and incorporate approximately 40g into their regular diets each day for 1 month.
In collaboration with Metagen of Yamagata Prefecture, the project provides participants with an opportunity to learn about their gut microbiota. A seminar was held at the start of the project, where participants learned about the importance of short-chain fatty acids and the role of mushrooms. Using Metagen’s analytical technology, the project measured short-chain fatty acid levels before and after mushroom consumption to assess changes in the gut environment.
Participants reported that the project prompted them to review their dietary and lifestyle habits, and many expressed a desire to continue it, according to the company.
The data and verification results are scheduled to be presented at the 31st Japanese Society of Dietary Fiber conference, which is expected to become a source of further information.
