A security specialist in the GMO Group published the results of an investigation into multiple cyberattacks targeting Japanese companies. The attackers allegedly misused AI developed in China and conducted attacks after narrowing down the country and industries targeted.
According to the investigation, approximately 20 Japanese companies were targeted. Many of the incidents involved information leaks, the group said.
A separate investigation reportedly found 6 devices used in cyberattacks targeting only Japanese companies. These devices are believed to have been used against specific industries.
A GMO subsidiary said it believes multiple incidents were carried out by the same group, and further investigation results are awaited.
