An interview with the chairman explains why Stanley Electric organizes the Stanley Ladies Honda Golf Tournament. Founded in 1980, the tournament has continued at Tōmei Country Club in Shizuoka Prefecture and will be held from 9 to 11 October this year. Honda Motor Co., Ltd. joined as a special sponsor in 2022, and the two companies are working together to enhance the tournament’s value.
Stanley Electric’s management philosophy since its founding has been to pursue the value of light. Through the golf tournament, the company aims to promote sports culture and support people who take on challenges. The tournament seeks to advance women’s professional golf, foster the next generation and contribute to the local community, while also working to create an environment in which players can concentrate fully on competition.
The tournament has a long history, having started in 1980. Since 2003, its principal venue has been Tōmei Country Club in Shizuoka Prefecture, and the addition of Honda’s special sponsorship in 2022 marked a new stage. Stanley Electric and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. share the idea of bringing joy to people through technology and manufacturing, and are working to improve the spectator experience and strengthen ties with the local community.
This year, the organizers plan to work with the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association to create an environment that is easier for families to enjoy, including by providing childcare. The venue will be Tōmei Country Club in Shizuoka, and visitors are being encouraged to attend, including those traveling from the Nagoya area. Young players are expected to make an impact, and the organizers aim to convey the excitement to spectators throughout the 3-day tournament.
President Kaizumi Yasuaki (貝住泰昭) highlighted the efforts of star players and the immediacy of watching the action, and spoke of further enhancing the tournament’s value through cooperation with the local community, environmental considerations and the use of mobility solutions. The Stanley Group’s spirit of taking on challenges and the support of partner companies are described as the driving forces sustaining the tournament’s long history.
