Fuji Pan subsidiary Fuji Delica will close its plant in Uki, Kumamoto Prefecture. Citing the costs and time required to restore equipment damaged in the Kumamoto Earthquake, it decided to close the plant on 15 October.
Fuji Delica was responsible for producing ready-to-eat meals, mainly boxed meals, prepared dishes and sandwiches for FamilyMart, at its Kumamoto Plant. The plant began operations in 2003 and was located in Uki, Kumamoto Prefecture.
Equipment was damaged by the Kumamoto Earthquake that occurred in July 2026, forcing a temporary suspension of production. Reports indicated that restoration would require considerable costs and time, which became a factor in the decision to close the plant.
The closure was disclosed on 15 October. The consolidation of production sites and the impact on employment at the facility may attract attention going forward.
