The 92-year-old active investor Kobayashi Ryoji (小林良次), known as Ryoji, says he developed his market outlook using two types of stock notebooks and a homemade Nikkei Average chart, and earned about ¥18 million in profit this year alone by investing in Kioxia shares.
Kobayashi Ryoji (小林良次) began serious investing at 63, using part of his retirement allowance as capital, and continues to invest even now that he is over 90. Of particular interest is his use of investment notebooks that emphasise daily records, along with a homemade chart connecting Nikkei Average closing prices every half-month. In his review notebook, he records brief comments on events as a basis for long-term decision-making, while in his trading records notebook, he uses a method of recording numbers only.
Kobayashi Ryoji (小林良次) disclosed that he bought Kioxia Holdings, the year’s most talked-about stock, and achieved a gain of about ¥18 million through 4 trades. Without changing his investment style, he is also studying new fields and sees the AI semiconductor boom as an opportunity to test his own market view.
He says he began serious investing at 63 after reminding himself that it is never too late to start investing, and has continued even after turning 90. Related articles also provide details of his methods and an explanation of his top stock pick.
