Stocks including Marumae and Furuno Electric attracted attention in the Tokyo market, with companies announcing upward revisions to their earnings forecasts at the start of the fiscal year and share buybacks. Investor interest is expected to focus on the performance of related stocks.
Today, alongside movements in the Nikkei Average, attention focused on Marumae's announcement of a 99.8% increase in operating profit for the previous fiscal year and a forecast 57.4% increase for the current fiscal year, while Furuno Electric also revised its earnings forecast upward. Although first-half profit varied year on year, the outlook for higher profit was maintained, and related stocks were expected to attract investor interest. Yaskawa Electric, meanwhile, reported a 5.5% year-on-year decline in first-half profit, although the decline was smaller than in the first quarter, and this was viewed as a factor limiting market weakness.
OSG also announced a share buyback of up to 1.80% of its shares outstanding and revised its earnings and dividend forecasts for the fiscal year ending November 2026 upward. Stocks such as Adtec Plasma Technology, Cluster Technology, which has entered into a capital and business alliance with Epson, and Signpost were also expected to attract investor interest. JINS HOLDINGS, Sanko Gosei and AEON Financial Service, on the other hand, revised their earnings outlook downward or indicated concerns about downside risk, and trading was expected to remain weak, particularly among TSE Standard stocks.
