As LINE Yahoo seeks to acquire Kakaku.com, the LINE Yahoo–Bain consortium has offered ¥3,597 per share and indicated that it intends to raise the price to ¥3,720 depending on the conditions. EQT, meanwhile, has raised its tender offer price to ¥3,682 and extended the tender offer period in a competing bid.
LINE Yahoo is seeking to acquire Kakaku.com, which operates Kakaku.com, Tabelog and Kyujin Box, in cooperation with Bain Capital, a US investment fund. On 16 September, it proposed ¥3,597 per share and stated that it intended to raise the price to ¥3,720 if KDDI, Kakaku.com's major shareholder, entered into a non-tender agreement.
In response, Swedish investment fund EQT raised its tender offer price to ¥3,682 per share on 14 October and extended the tender offer period through 28 October. EQT's price currently exceeds the LINE Yahoo–Bain consortium's base proposal but remains below ¥3,720, so the bidding contest continues.
