The full text of the Outlook Report released by the BOJ says that it will focus on 3 areas to anchor the underlying inflation rate at 2%: expected inflation, corporate wage- and price-setting behaviour, and the spread of customs and social norms. It assesses that in recent years, underlying inflation has risen toward 2% and that progress toward anchoring it at that level has also advanced gradually.
The full text of the BOJ's Outlook for Economic Activity and Prices, or Outlook Report, says that it will focus on 3 areas in assessing whether the underlying inflation rate has become anchored at 2%. Specifically, these are expected inflation, corporate wage- and price-setting behaviour, and the spread of customs and social norms based on the assumption of 2% inflation.
It assesses that in recent years, underlying inflation has risen toward 2%, while progress toward anchoring it at that level has also advanced gradually. In the report, the BOJ indicates its intention to pursue achievement of the 2% target.
The Outlook Report says that its contents are consistent with those compiled at the 30 October Monetary Policy Meeting, and that underlying inflation is broadly at a level consistent with the 2% target, again suggesting that the BOJ will announce that the target has been reached.
