Obayashi Corporation published issue 65, “The Earth,” of its corporate magazine Quarterly Obayashi. The issue introduces the diversity of Earth's land, as well as a concept, design and research for creating land in a Martian crater.
Issue 65 of the corporate magazine Quarterly Obayashi, “The Earth,” builds on the themes established since its launch in 1978 and focuses on the origins of the land and a renewed examination of the richness of Earth's environment. It introduces the varied landscapes and geological histories of locations around the world and explores Earth's ground from cultural and technological perspectives.
The feature on the Obayashi Project presents an attempt to examine, in the magazine, a space-scale concept for creating land in a Martian crater and developing an environment in which life can flourish. It considers the value of the natural environment humans have enjoyed on Earth in connection with the creation of Earth's future environment.
The main content includes the gravure feature “The Colors and Character of the Earth,” discussions of the soil of Earth and other planets, essays on space ethics, an explanation of terraforming, prospects for migration to Mars, and the architectural origins of Terunobu Fujimori, among other diverse perspectives.
