GS Yuasa Corporation forecasts consolidated net profit of ¥41.0 billion for the fiscal year ending March 2027, revising it upward from its previous forecast of ¥39.5 billion despite a 2% decline from the previous fiscal year. Sales of replacement lead-acid batteries are expected to grow in Japan and overseas.
GS Yuasa Corporation announced on the 6th that consolidated net profit for the fiscal year ending March 2027 was expected to come to ¥41.0 billion. Although this would represent a 2% decline from the previous fiscal year, it was revised upward from the previous forecast of ¥39.5 billion. Growth in domestic and overseas sales of replacement lead-acid batteries was cited as the reason for the outlook.
Operating profit is forecast at ¥66.5 billion and revenue at ¥680.0 billion. Neither was revised upward from the previous forecast, and the outlook was described as reflecting an expansion in replacement demand.
At a press conference the same day, President Abe Takashi (阿部 貴志) explained that the strong demand for replacement products reflected a longer model-change cycle, resulting from factors including more frequent vehicle inspections, higher prices for new vehicles and longer delivery times. Overseas, inflation has strengthened the trend toward keeping vehicles longer, and replacement demand is strong in Europe and Southeast Asia.
In the consolidated results for the six months ended September 2026, net profit rose 35% year on year to ¥14.1 billion, revenue increased 10% to ¥300.2 billion and operating profit rose 30% to ¥24.3 billion. All three reached record highs for the period.
