Arthur D. Little Japan announced that it will hold a seminar on 28 September 2026 explaining growth areas in the defense business emerging from AI and unmanned systems, as well as dual-use strategies.
The global defense industry is undergoing a major structural transformation driven by technological innovation in areas including AI, unmanned systems, software and satellites. Japanese companies are being asked which growth areas they should direct their own assets toward. Strategies that use dual-use technologies to strengthen competitiveness in both civilian and defense markets are attracting particular attention.
The seminar will analyze five issues that Japanese corporate executives should consider: business portfolio strategy, selecting areas in which they can win, dual-use strategies, M&A, alliances and ecosystems, and organizational and talent strategies. The aim is to frame the issues involved in entering the defense market not simply in terms of whether to enter, but around identifying growth areas and developing partnership strategies.
The speakers will be Tateno Daisuke (立野大輔), a partner at Arthur D. Little Japan, and Nagayama Kota (長山晃大), a principal at the firm. Drawing on the firm's expertise in the defense and space sectors, they are scheduled to explain new business opportunities created by AI and unmanned systems, as well as the feasibility of implementing them as corporate strategies.
The webinar will be held on 28 September 2026 from 10:00 to 12:00. The venue will be the offline SSK Seminar Room, with online streaming also available. The participation fee is ¥34,430 (including tax), and the agenda includes the global security environment and approaches to warfare in Japan and overseas, strategies for areas in which companies can win, and organizational and talent transformation.
