The new iPad mini is expected to forgo an OLED display, while its price is likely to rise substantially. The expected US price is US$799, which could translate to around the ¥130,000 range in Japan.
The next iPad mini is reportedly expected to forgo an OLED display, while its price is likely to surge from US$599 for the current 128GB model to approximately US$799. In his newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said he expected it to be “quite a bit more expensive” and cited a price of around US$799. This could put it above the current price range of the 11-inch iPad Air.
An estimate for the Japanese market puts the price at approximately ¥133,000 based on US$799. This is an indicative figure based on Apple's customary conversion, separate from the US price and exchange rate, and the actual official price will be set when the product is announced.
The changes to the device are said to include an OLED display, which is expected to improve the depth of blacks and overall image quality. Whether ProMotion will be supported and the details of the display performance remain uncertain, while other changes, such as increased storage capacity, are also under consideration.
Apple is expected to announce the new iPad mini at an event later this month, possibly alongside new MacBook Pro products. Subsequent reports are expected to clarify the official specifications and price.
