In U.S. market trading, the Dow Jones was at 53,839.99 dollars, up 69.72 from the previous day, with developments in the Tokyo market appearing to be affected by its movements. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Composite was weak at 3,926.96 points, down 19.71.
The stock market at the morning close showed that the Nikkei 225 had, at times, recovered to the ¥69,000 range.
