Sompo Japan Insurance rolled out generative AI company-wide, reaching 99% of eligible employees by the end of June. Weekly usage among department heads and above reached 98%. The case was presented at Google Cloud Next Tokyo.
More companies are distributing generative AI to all employees, but a significant gap remains between distribution and actual use. Sompo Japan Insurance and Sky attracted attention by demonstrating methods for closing that gap.
Sompo Japan Insurance rolled out Gemini Enterprise, Google's enterprise AI service, company-wide in January. By the end of June, it had reached 99% of eligible employees, with approximately 21,000 people using it. More than half of employees use it routinely, while approximately 80% use it at least once a week.
Among department heads and above, the weekly usage rate was 98%, showing that managers had a higher usage rate than employees on the front lines. The factors behind this high WAU included the company-wide rollout at launch and integration into employees' daily work.
The figures were disclosed in a keynote at Google Cloud Next Tokyo, where Nakajima Masatomo (中島正朝), in his capacity as head of the Digital and Data Strategy Department at Sompo Holdings, explained the company-wide rollout and cross-functional use of the service.
