HONOR has announced and launched the world's first robot phone, Robot Phone. Priced from around ¥240,000, it had received more than 400,000 reservations at the time of the announcement.
Chinese smartphone giant HONOR announced Robot Phone in Guangzhou on 12 August, positioning it as the world's first robot phone, and said it would officially launch on 18 August. The 12GB+512GB model is priced at CNY 9,999 (approximately ¥240,000), while the 16GB+1TB model is priced at CNY 12,999 (approximately ¥310,000). Reservations opened at 20:30 on the day of the announcement.
Robot Phone's key feature is a 4-degree-of-freedom titanium-alloy mechanical gimbal mounted on the top of the smartphone. The camera can pop up in 0.8 seconds and track subjects through 360-degree filming. Its main camera system comprises a 200MP main camera and a 200MP periscope camera, and incorporates ARRI's LogC3 color curve and Looks.
In addition to gimbal-assisted filming, the device offers automatic face tracking during video calls, gimbal movements synchronized with the rhythm of music during playback, and user responses delivered through mechanical movements. It demonstrates that AI can have capabilities involving certain physical behaviors in addition to screen and voice interactions.
On the software side, the device is built around Agentic OS and includes the AI agent YOYO Pro. It enables task planning and cross-app execution, demonstrating a function that automatically completes tasks such as ordering food and arranging rides after receiving multi-step instructions. HONOR is opening the YOYO Skill Store and expanding into external functions.
