Unconventional AI has agreed to acquire Israel-based NeuReality in a private cash-and-stock transaction. The acquisition is expected to provide the engineering resources needed to turn experimental chips into products for customers.
Unconventional AI, valued at approximately $4.5 billion, announced that it had agreed to acquire Israel-based chip developer NeuReality in a private cash-and-stock transaction. The transaction price has not been formally disclosed, while Globes reported an estimated value of $150 million–$200 million in a combination of cash and stock.
NeuReality’s NR1 architecture combines a network engine with a hardware hypervisor to reduce data-transfer and job-management overhead in AI inference. The acquisition is expected to give Unconventional the silicon implementation expertise needed to move beyond research chips and develop commercial products.
The boards of both companies have approved the transaction, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. According to NeuReality, some of its approximately 40 Israel-based employees will be integrated into other divisions after the acquisition, while some sales, marketing and finance staff may lose their jobs.
Unconventional AI’s stated target of 1,000-fold greater efficiency has not been demonstrated in a commercial product and is not supported by independent benchmarks. NeuReality, meanwhile, has published 2024 test results for the NR1-S combined with the Qualcomm Cloud AI 100, but has been criticized for a lack of independent validation of tests using other configurations.
