On 4 September, Japan Display Inc. unveiled in Japan for the first time the bio-sample processing unit (BPU) it jointly developed with US startup CyteSi. The unveiling was intended for the domestic market, and the company indicated that it plans to expand sales going forward.
The BPU fully automates the experimental processes involved in synthesizing, reacting and measuring bio-samples. Its distinguishing feature is the application of technology that JDI uses to produce substrates for semiconductor chips. The unit is reportedly already available in some regions, including the United States.
JDI is currently considering expanding sales in Japan and is expected to attract attention for its future development. The company is reportedly pursuing the rollout of advanced automated equipment that uses its proprietary display technology.
