Bluetooth SIG has established a Japanese entity and launched a new organization to support Japanese companies' standardization activities and market development. Japanese companies account for the world's third-largest membership base, while the number of certified products also ranks among the highest in Japan and worldwide.
Bluetooth SIG announced that it had established its Tokyo-based Japanese entity, Bluetooth SIG Japan合同会社, and had also launched the Bluetooth Japan Member Group (Bluetooth JMG), comprising members based in Japan. The initiatives are intended to expand engagement with Japanese companies and industry stakeholders and promote the development of technical specifications and markets.
According to Bluetooth SIG, more than 2,900 Japanese companies are members, ranking Japan third worldwide in both the number of member companies and the number of certified products. Japanese companies develop Bluetooth-enabled products across a broad range of fields, including audio, gaming, mobile devices, consumer electronics, automotive equipment, medical devices and industrial equipment.
Bluetooth JMG will function as an organization promoting collaboration among Japanese companies, educational activities and market development in Japan. It is intended to serve as a forum for Japanese companies to bring domestic-market perspectives and technical expertise to global standardization activities, while promoting information sharing and discussion among companies in Japan.
The organization plans to ramp up its activities in Japan from October 2026, with plans to hold CEATEC 2026, Bluetooth Japan Summit 2026 and its first kickoff meeting.
